Communications must come through and from the head director.

The mood was loose today which is fine for the first day of rehearsal. But in the coming days make sure you set the mood. Focused but fun, Constructive and. Creative, and all the rest of unsaid alliterations (write your own alliteration below)

It was great seeing and hearing voices to the parts that you created. With enough enthusiasm and encouragement they are going to run with these parts and make this show amazing.

  1. I was impressed with the read through. However, I'm realizing now how in a certain light our plan is funny. Which is not what I want. I am not speaking for everyone else. I like the funny, but the serious is what we are looking for. We will need to work on that.

  2. Today's read thru was very nice, and I think ran smoothly! I think it set a fun tone to the Spring Play, but also set some guidelines...however next is that we will have to actually practice these guidelines. As for Allison, I think that reading the action out loud did make it funny, but I think when they are acting it out it won't actually look all that funny. However, people enter the spring play expecting to laugh, so people might just laugh because they know the people. I think it will be a struggle, but I think (aka hope) we can make it work!

  3. The idea for the set today looked pretty awesome Kate. I'm not sure I've heard of a set like that. I hope that everyone is having fun. I hope it's not too serious. Our plays definitly have a humurous side to them. AnD I GOT MY IPOD BACK!!

  4. Killing Time peeps: I think you can set a serious mood with your lighting, choice of music, etc. However, there will be laughter -- that is how people deal with things that are scary, nerve-wracking, uncomfortable. Humor is a good contrast to scary. The directing choices will need to be careful, and skilled. We will have to work on it a great deal to make it the way you want it, but I think your vision is understood by all.
Mac - you are right. Your play is funny, so is Kenny's.
And to all, you've got to run a tight ship, or you are going to lose them...and you don't have time for that.

  5. IDK if anyone told houston or harding although i don't see them having a problem with it but let the record show that Kate and I and everyone else agrees that we are going to hang the scrim behind the screen starting from the underside of the roof pieces, hanging down to the stage. Its definatley a good idea and will give us more of an oppertunity to make each part of the house distinguishable from the rest by lighting each room a different color.

  6. I think the read thru went great today! I was impressed by how good the plays sounded with our casts reading them. I agree with claire. I think that once we start acting out the scenes they won't be as funny. But I do think it is good to lighten it up once in a while to ad more levels to the show. Overall I think everything is starting off great!

  7. Hey everybody! I'm glad to hear that the first read thru went well and that for the most part, we're all off to a great start. I look forward to hearing more in class tomorow.

  8. Well said Mr. Moore. The Read throughs for the other two plays went well, and our read-through was just missing too many people. A surprising amount not from chorus tour. I guess we will have to discuss commitment and scheduling the second day, oh well. I really look forward to character building with the cast, that and the fantastic fun that can (and hopefully) will be had by all.

  9. Rehersal went so well!! I love this cast, and I think the read through went really well. I'm so happy everyone liked the set!! And Justin the scrim idea is awsome! I think everyone really enjoyed the read through and we should have a really great time with this cast. I won't be at rehersal today but i know it will go swimmingly.
I am so excited for this show!!!!

  10. ps i think things will get more serious once some of the kids understand the vision through acting, but i also agree with houston, it's a coping mechanism

  11. Because of baseball I have not been able to see a rehearsal yet. Im glad the cast is doing well so far. Even though they are young, there is a lot of talent on this cast and I feel like they can deliver an amazing performance. I am really excited to get a chance to see a rehearsal on of these days when I don't have practice!

  13. I like all the information i just read. The read-through went fantastic today! I thought that people did think the Killing Time play was somewhat funny but thats exactly a bad thing like Ms Houston said. And after our actors understand the play better and start rehearsing it, it will be more serious, but I do think it is okay for there to be some funny parts in our play. Overall, the read-through went great today and it was awesome hearing all of the actors reading their scripts for the first time.

  14. Justin-
We'll talk about the scrim. If you hang it, then hang it in front of the screen. It's pointless to hang it behind (plus looking really weird) and you can project on it as easily as the screen.
    Thanks for all the comments.

  15. I like the scrim idea. It can used pretty dramatically in K.T.
