Set concrete places for rehearsal. Here is an idea: who ever was in the black box first is then in the hallway, and the show that is not in the black box that day is in the gallery. Done. Stick to it.
I think that that is because before people even auditioned, they thought that they did not have to be there every day. Someone should gather the whole cast from all three plays and clearly tell them that they have to be at practice EVERY DAY, and that the only time that they can miss it is if they tell someone in advance.
First of all, sounds like a solid plan, Mr. Moore. Second, the whole mandatory attendance thing should be mentioned over the homework site, and we should probably tell them (the actors) to spread the word that everyone has to be there every day unless they hear otherwise.
I agree with Lucas and JD. This whole attendance issue is pretty ridiculous. Other than that things are going great. I don't know if it's just me, but Kate, can you explain to me all the set and floor-plan stuff, just so I know what all the limitations are. Spring. Break. (I believe that the groups, or at least Fishbowl, should maintain communication over the break to keep ideas flowing, and to work out things that we can get out of the way to make the process fun even smoother when we get back. Just a thought.)
So attendance has been tough, and I totally understand why your were not to keen on us sharing too many people because that is really difficult. I know that since attendance was off today especially the scenes we planned on working on we couldn't because we would be missing too many vital people from those scenes. It was not fun, but in the end we got stuff done but we could have gotten way more done!
@ Houston - is there any way to contact Mr. West because we would like to try certain things, and Nick isn't too sure how to do them. (it is a belt whip and a book slap)?!?!
Yes I agree MR. Moore! Good stuff. I agree with Claire, why don't people show up on time, or come to rehearsal?! It was hard to pick a scene to do today, but we made good progress. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Claire and I are working well together, we are getting a lot of scenes done. Good job Claire. Nathan and Kate are doing a good job keeping people organized, good stuff. We are doing great, I'm impressed with our progress, but we do still have a lot to do! Crazy. This is and probably will be my longest blog. I'm going to stick to "got it" from now on.
yesterday went really well except fro teh fact that we didnt have alot of our actors. other than that nate and i played some greta games and it seems to really help the actors explore thier charecters.<<< same comment as on houstons (i commented on teh wrong thing)
If people are not showing up to rehearsal, then they need to get points - if they are not giving you advanced notice and asking permission to be gone, then they get an unexcused absence. Mr. D and Mr. Moore would assign the points by marking them absent on FAWeb. But, I agree with whoever said that the actors need to be told this very clearly over break via email and the HW site, and then in person when you get back. They also need to be reminded that the show is about five weeks from when you get back. That is less than half the time we had for the musical.
Also, keep in mind that for KMK, we never had the full cast there until the second night of the show. I wish I was kidding. And for "Museum" it was opening night. You will always be missing people. The key is trying to get a handle on who might be missing when. Also, the cast should know that Blackbox time is imperative and they should try to work around it as best as possible. Knowing what lab Horsley is doing each week is also important and such negotiations can make or break your rehearsals. Welcome to my life!!!! You have finally arrived at Destination: Crazy Houston Woman. I'm glad you had a safe flight getting here...
@Claire- Email has been sent to D. West. He will be here around the wedding on April 1st, so I asked him if he could spare an hour to meet up with Cavalier.
I don't really deal with attendance but I think what needs to be done is an ultimatum for those who are giving lip about being there and not "doing anything"... Those who have LEGITIMATE reasons to not be there like they need to do homework because they have SAT classes from 6-9 ( that's a real class here right?) they can do homework in the library but they MUST MUST MUST bring their cell phone so we can then call them to tell them to come over. Of course we check if they really do have these so called SAT classes.
I totally agree with Mr. Moore on this one! That way it makes it so much easier for everyone to know where everyone else is. Also, thank you Michael Brown for the sincere comments. I thought Michael has done so well directing and kind of Claire somewhat...just kidding Claire. Anyways great job everyone and glad to see how well the process is going. Have a good Spring Everyone!
So did you decide for us? Or should we still figure it out ourselves?
ReplyDeleteGood plan. Mr. Moore, you are a gentleman and a scholar.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, cast attendance has been wonky. I'm not sure what's going on with that, but hopefully it works itself out after break.
